LOCATION: TOWN OF IEN
The girls are in their room, relating the previous few days' events to Senia. Senia's still upset about how they just left her there with Layla. But while they're arguing, a fog descends over Ien. (Ellie jokes that perhaps Althena brought this fog down to show Lena how bad she's been lately.) But seriously, Senia says this is a strange fog; Lena agrees--there's something unusual about it. They decide to go around and ask some of the other kids here. |
MAGIC (AUTOMATIC)| Senia will have a new spell, Comfort, when she rejoins you in this chapter.
MAGIC
Senia - Comfort| Heals everyone slightly |
Go downstairs and exit the Dormitory.
Ien is completely covered in fog; it's even entered in through the buildings. Lena suggests that they go to the School Tower; they might be able to find out more about the fog from there. |
OPTIONAL| Go around Ien and talk to some of the students and teachers.
Most of the people around Ien are unnerved and anxious. The fog apparently isn't just a weather phenomenon, but it's also affecting everyone's mood. If you read the book in Ralph's Library (first floor, right side), the title is 'Climate of Lunar'; Lena suggests that they may be able to find out about the fog from there. (But, they never actually read the book. Moving on...) All the teachers have apparently been summoned to the School Tower. |
OPTIONAL| Go to Iason's Dojo and talk with Blade.
Blade suggests that the girls might just be scared of the fog. He then introduces himself to Senia. He notices that Senia seems strong for a girl; Ellie reminds him that he said he'd stop distinguishing between boys and girls when it comes to strength. |
Go into the School Tower.
All the professors, plus Brown and Eleonora, are meeting on the first floor. Lena and the girls decide to hide and listen in to find out what's going on. Dean Steel suggests that they need to check in with Prof Glen to find out what's going on; there is a strange and dangerous power coming from this fog. Glen then enters. Glen says that they've entered the Sea of Ghosts. Ralph and Steel realize that this means they're near Skull Island, a place which is supposed to have been sealed away. But now, the seal is gone and Ien has been entangled in its spirit fog. STEEL: Skull Island! But, that island was supposed to be sealed inside a powerful barrier... GLEN: That is true. But now, the seal has been lifted, and Ien has been pulled in by the fog of Skull Island. We must act quickly. Glen tells Dean that it's his responsibility to sort out what to do. Meanwhile, Glen will find out why the seal on the island was lifted. The girls talk amongst themselves. Lena swears that she's not thinking at all of trying to go to Skull Island to investigate what's going on (right...). They decide to go back to the Dormitory for the time being. |
Go back into the Dormitory.
When you enter, Stella says that she's going to prevent any more students from leaving the building. In a fog like this, a ghost could appear, and so she won't let anyone just wander outside so easily as it could be dangerous. She asks the girls to wait in their rooms until this is all sorted out. |
Go to Ant's room (first floor, southeast corner) and talk to Ant twice.
The first time you talk to him, Ant tells Lena that he heard there's a jewel at the end of this fog. This might be a good enough pretext to try and get out of the building. The second time you talk to him, the scene shifts to Prof Emma entering the Dormitory. She has something to tell Stella: First, about the fog, anyone whose magic power is weak might breath it in and start acting a little strange--so, Emma asks Stella to make sure the students don't leave the Dormitory, for their own safety (Stella's already got that part covered). Second, any students who have already begun acting strangely should return to normal if they just receive some kind of shock to their senses. Emma says that they'll be docking soon with a place called Skull Island. She will be going to the Docking Tower per the Dean's orders, along with Iason-sensei (who will be leading an investigation party), Prof Terena, Prof Kent, Prof Ralph, and a handful of other students to go investigate. Back to the girls again, Ant says that he's unable to move. Meanwhile, Lena says that this is their chance to leave the Dormitory. She says she's sure that if they talk with Stella, she'll understand. |
Go to the entrance of the Dormitory and talk with Stella.
LENA: Ms Stella! It's awful! Ant is acting real strange! Stella asks the girls not to leave while she goes to investigate. Now's their chance. Ellie has her reservations, but Lena reasons that if she really feels bad about Ant and the others, they'll get to the bottom of this fog that's making everyone feel and act funny. So, they exit. |
When you exit, Blade is there to stop you. Lena tells him that they're going to Skull Island; Blade says that he can't let them do that. Lena manages to convince him to go along, though, and "keep an eye" on them that way. BLADE: I was sent here by Iason-sensei to keep an eye on you! LENA: Hm, fine then, I suppose you'll have to come along with us to Skull Island. BLADE: What are you talking about? LENA: Iason-sensei only said to keep an eye on us, right? But, he never said anything about not going to Skull Island. BLADE: Well, he didn't say that exactly, but... LENA: It's settled. You come with us to Skull Island so that you can keep an eye on us. Unless you'd rather disobey Iason-sensei's orders? ELLIE: Blade, please, it would be really difficult to continue by ourselves. We really could use your help. |
Just then, the groud shakes. Blade decides to go with you and joins your party. |
MAGIC (OPTIONAL)| Go into Brune's Classroom and talk with Prof Brune twice. Brune teaches Ellie the Falling Rocks spell.
MAGIC
Ellie - Falling Rocks| Tossing a boulder down from the air |
OPTIONAL| Go to the School Tower, top floor, and speak with Dean Steel.
Lena asks him why he's not going to Skull Island with the others. Steel starts to explain, but then asks Lena how does she know about Skull Island? Lena stammers for a response, but can't quite find a good excuse. Anyway, the Dean explains that he has to stay behind because someone needs to protect Ien. It's certainly not because he's afraid of ghosts or anything. |
Exit Ien by the western exit (near where Dadis's Classroom used to be) and go to the Docking Tower.
DIRECTIONS From Ien's western side, go directly south until you see the Docking Tower. Enter. |
LOCATION: SKULL ISLAND
Go left through the Docking Tower and exit.
On Skull Island, proceed to where the professors are all gathered (there aren't any monsters in this part).
DIRECTIONS From the entrance, go south and then west. Take the path to the south, then turn west and keep going until you see the path north. Continue north along this path until you reach the meeting point. |
At the meeting place, the professors and several students are gathered. It's creepy, but too late to turn back now; besides, says Lena, they still haven't found that jewel that's supposed to be here. |
OPTIONAL| Talk to some of the other people here.
If you talk to Brown, he asks why Ellie is here--she's got him worried now. Ellie says she's all right, but asks Brown why he's so worried about her. Brown stammers in response. If you talk to him a second time, Blade steps in and tells Ellie she should back away from this guy. He then introduces himself to Brown as Blade, training to be a Real Man under Iason-sensei. And if Brown has any problems (with Ellie, presumably), he should go through him first. If you talk to Eleonora, she's made lunches for the day. If you talk to her a second time, she explains that there's a shipwreck to the west of here, and asks if you've gone to see it yet. If you talk with Prof Terena, she explains that her students are singing in order to keep the area protected from the fog. She says that Ellie may sing along if she wishes, but Lena may not. If you talk to Iason-sensei, he's upset at Blade for coming here with the others. But, it can't be helped, so he'll overlook Blade's actions just this once. |
MAGIC (OPTIONAL)| Talk to Prof Terena twice. She teaches Ellie and Lena the Temptation spell.
MAGIC
Ellie - Temptation| Charming the enemy with her cuteness |
Go west out of the meeting area. Proceed down to the shipwreck.
DIRECTIONS From the meeting point, go a little west, and take the first path south. Continue south and a little west, then north to enter the shipwreck. |
LOCATION: GHOST SHIP
Senia wonders if this ship was pulled in by the spirit fog the same way that Ien was. Ellie figures that if any ghosts are around, they're most likely in this shipwreck. Lena assures her, though, that there couldn't be more than one or two ghosts, at most... Right on cue the ghosts show up. While the group is deciding what to do, Prof Kent comes in and... busts the ghosts. As usual, Prof Kent suggests that you return, particularly as Lena's never one to really help him with his research. And, there are a few things in this shipwreck that he has left to investigate as part of that research. Before he leaves, Prof Kent decides to give something to you... |
MAGIC (AUTOMATIC)| Kent teaches Ellie+Senia the Thunderbird spell.
MAGIC
Ellie+Senia - Thunderbird| Thunderbolt from the sky |
MAGIC (OPTIONAL)| To learn another spell from Prof Kent, do the following:
(1) Go through the shipwreck to Prof Kent again.
DIRECTIONS 1FA: From the entrance, go north. Keep going north through the rooms until you see Prof Kent again |
Lena asks him what he's doing when he's defeating the ghosts. Kent says that he can explain later, when they have more time--Lena should stop by his class for that. Before you go, Kent teaches you another spell.
MAGIC
Senia+Blade - Lightning Blade| Lightning-and-blade combo attack |
Proceed through the shipwreck until you enter an empty room and are ambushed by ghosts.
DIRECTIONS 1FA: If you're near Prof Kent, then go directly south, and then west past the crates and barrels. If you're near the entrance, then go directly north, and then west past the crates and barrels. From there, go northwest all the way, then north, and then a little east to the stairs down. B1A: From the stairs, go west, then south, and back east. Go all the way south and take the last path east to reach the stairs down. B2A: From the stairs, go east all the way, then go north (to the room with the book), then continue east. From there, go south to the stairs up. B1B: From the stairs, go all the way north to the top room. Go west (past the hole in the floor), then back south. From there, go all the way west, and take the next path north to get to the stairs down. B2B: From the stairs, go south, then east to the empty room. |
Enter the empty room.
Ellie suggests that they return to where Iason-sensei and the others are already. Lena says they still haven't found the jewel, and Blade says that this has been good practice for his sword techniques so far. They decide to continue. |
Exit the empty room (go back west).
BOSS BATTLE| Defeat the 5 Ghosts in the empty room.
After defeating them, Senia suggests that maybe they can go back to Prof Emma so they can be healed. |
Continue through the shipwreck until you enter a room with a mirror.
DIRECTIONS B2B: From where you fought the ghosts, go directly north to the stairs up. B1B: From the stairs, go directly south. Go a little west and continue south. Follow the path east, and south to get to the stairs up. 1FB: From the stairs, go directly east. Then go north and west into the room with a mirror. |
Enter the room with a mirror.
While Lena and Senia are talking, something strange is reflected in the mirror. |
BOSS BATTLE| Defeat the 5 Ghosts from the mirror.
Go back through the shipwreck to the exit.
DIRECTIONS 1FB: From the mirror room, go east, then back south, and back west to the stairs down. B1B: From the stairs, go north, then west, then north, and go all the way back east. Turn north, then east again and keep going until you see the path south. Go south all the way until you reach the stairs down. B2A: From the stairs, go north and west (to the room with the book). Go south, and then continue west to the stairs up. B1A: From the stairs, go directly west. Take the first path north and go north all the way. Continue east around the crates and barrels, and go directly south from there to the exit. |
From the shipwreck, go back to the meeting area.
DIRECTIONS From the shipwreck, go a little south and east, then go back north until you see a little path east. Go east into the meeting area. |
LOCATION: SKULL ISLAND
In the meeting area, talk to Iason-sensei (at the north end).
Iason-sensei repeats the same thing he said before: he'll overlook Blade's mistake this time, but the next time he won't be so forgiving. |
MAGIC (AUTOMATIC)| Iason-sensei teaches Blade the Revolving Strike spell.
MAGIC
Blade - Revolving Strike| Spinning sword strike |
OPTIONAL| Talk to Prof Emma to recover all your HP and MP.
Go west out of the meeting area. Return to the shipwreck.
DIRECTIONS From the meeting point, go a little west, and take the first path south. Continue south and a little west, then north to enter the shipwreck. |
LOCATION: GHOST SHIP
Go through the shipwreck to the room with the book.
DIRECTIONS 1FA: From the entrance, then go directly north, and then west past the crates and barrels. From there, go northwest all the way, then north, and then a little east to the stairs down. B1A: From the stairs, go west, then south, and back east. Go all the way south and take the last path east to reach the stairs down. B2A: From the stairs, go east all the way, then go north to the room with the book. |
Read the book. (NOTE: For some reason, this is really difficult as you have to be standing in a specific position and place. Do this: Stand just to the right of the book on the table, take one step right, and one step back left so that you're actually facing the book on the table. Then, press the C button.)
The group examines the mysterious book. In it, the contents describe, somewhere, where the jewel they're looking for is located. BOOK: Today we had curry. Tomorrow we will have hamburgers or rice omelette. LENA: Next chapter... BOOK: I also finished for the first time the "Fish Pun Series", the one that the guy at the fishmarket next door didn't like. LENA: Next! BOOK: I found a beautiful gemstone. With this, we'll be rich. But, I've been thinking a lot about the curse. Fog and countless spirits... help me. LENA: I see... This must be a pirate ship. Ellie and the others realize that the jewel they're looking for has some connection with the spirit fog, and the seal that was supposed to be around Skull Island. Then, Blade finds a key inside the book. Lena figures the key must be the key to the treasure chest which holds the jewel. So, their next step is to look for the treasure chest that this key will open, and get the jewel. |
MAGIC (OPTIONAL)| To learn another spell from Prof Kent, do the following:
(1) After you read the book in the shipwreck, return to where Prof Kent was on the first floor and talk with him.

After you read the book in the shipwreck (and talked to Prof Kent to get the Light Ray spell--optional), then go back through the shipwreck to the captain's room.
DIRECTIONS (If you're near Prof Kent, read the directions starting from 1Fa. If you're near the book, read the directions starting from floor B2a.) 1FA: From Prof Kent, go directly south, and then west past the crates and barrels. Then go north and continue north all the way. At the end, follow the path to the west to get to the stairs up. 2F: From the stairs, go a little bit south, then west into the captain's room. |
Enter the captain's room.
Senia and Lena go for the treasure chest. Lena finds the jewel, and Senia finds... a glowing plank. Ellie says that they can now use the jewel on the seal that's supposed to be on the island. Blade says it's now time to get out of there; Lena jokes that maybe it's because Blade is 'fraid of ghosts. But while they're arguing, something rises from the captain's chair... |
BOSS BATTLE| Defeat the Poltergeist and 4 Ghosts.
After defeating the boss, Ellie interrupts Lena and Blade's arguing and says they need to get back to the teachers with this jewel, and fast. |
Go back through the shipwreck to the first floor (where Prof Kent is).
DIRECTIONS 2F: From the captain's room, go east and go down the stairs. 1FB: From the stairs, go east, then all the way back south, and back west to the stairs down. DIRECTIONS 1FA: From the crates and barrels, go directly north to the room where Prof Kent is.
MAGIC
Senia - Star Ray| Stronger beam of light |
Exit the shipwreck.
DIRECTIONS 1FA: Go all the way south to the exit. |
From the shipwreck, go back to the meeting area again.
DIRECTIONS From the shipwreck, go a little south and east, then go back north until you see a little path east. Go east into the meeting area. |
LOCATION: SKULL ISLAND
Once you enter the meeting area, Lena shows Prof Ralph the jewel they retreived from inside the ship. She also says that the jewel seems to be the key to sealing this spirit fog. Ralph replies that they received a message from the Dean a short while ago, and Iason-sensei already went into the mountain at the north end. Because it looks as if the fog is coming from that same mountain, Prof Ralph urges you to quickly take the jewel to Iason-sensei inside. |
OPTIONAL| Talk with Prof Emma.
Prof Emma explains that Iason-sensei went into the cave to the north, and Prof Terena returned to Ien with the other students. She also heals you. |
MAGIC (OPTIONAL)| Talk to Prof Emma twice. She teaches Lena the Rest spell.
MAGIC
Lena - Rest| Heals everyone greatly |
Go to the north end of the meeting area and enter the cave.
LOCATION: SKULL ISLAND CAVE
Inside the cave, Brown and Eleonora are around a hole in the center of a room. Brown says that Iason-sensei just fell into this hole. (Lena remarks that it's rare for him to be worried about someone besides Ellie this time.) Anyway, Blade insists that Iason-sensei can take care of himself, but it's still a student's obligation to help out his teacher, so they'll all go and look for Iason-sensei. Lena asks why Brown can't go in himself; Brown isn't able to answer. |
MAGIC (OPTIONAL)| Exit the cave to the south and talk with Prof Ralph in the meeting area. He teaches Ellie+Senia the Chain Lightning magic spell.
MAGIC
Ellie+Senia - Chain Lightning| Rain lightning from the sky |
Go back into the cave north of the meeting area. Go through the cave to find some fallen students.
DIRECTIONS 1F: From the entrance, go north past the room that the hole is in. Then, go east. Follow the path as it curves south, then a little east, and back north. Take the first path you see going east, and then immediately take the first path you see south. Follow this path south, then east, and back north. Take the first path you see going west into a small room with some fallen students. |
Not much of a surprise who it is... Lena helps the three of them again. Even Ant. Ant says they were caught off-guard by some of the monsters. They then run out. Ellie's impressed that Lena didn't start another argument with the boys this time. Lena just laughs--the same way that Layla usually does. |
Continue through the cave until you hear a roar.
DIRECTIONS 1F: From where you found the three boys, continue northwest to the stairs up. 2F: Go a little bit up from the stairs. |
They all hear a roar. Unsure of what it is, they decide it's best to be careful before proceeding. Lena suggests it could be Iason-sensei's scream. |
Continue through the cave to the source of the spirit fog.
DIRECTIONS 2F: From the stairs, go west and follow the path south. When the path splits, go a little bit east and continue south. Keep going south all the way and take the last path west. Follow the path as it curves around to the west and then north. Keep going north, then west, and when the path splits again, go north. Follow the path north until you see a path going east. Go east and keep following the path until it turns north, then east again. Go east all the way until you see a path going south. Continue south until you see a path going west. Go west, then northwest until you reach the stairs up. 3F: From the stairs, go east and south. When the path splits, go east and turn south again. When the path splits again, go a little bit southwest and continue south. Take the next path you see south all the way, and then continue east all the way. Follow the path as it curves a little north and east, then north again. When the path splits again, go northwest, and keep going north. When you see another split, continue going north and follow the path as it curves a little west then back north again. At the next split, go northeast, and follow the path east all the way. Keep going east all the way and follow the path as it curves back south and east again. When you see the next split, go northeast to reach the stairs up. 4F: From the stairs, go southwest. Take the first path you see west, and follow this path as it goes north and then west again. At the next split, go south and follow the path south then west. Take the first path you see south, and at the split go southwest and continue south. Take the next path you see east and follow this as it turns south. At the next split, go southeast and follow the path all the way east. Then go north and northwest at the split. Follow the path as it goes west, then turns north again into a room with the spirit fog machine. |
The group enters the room and sees what looks like the source of the spirit fog. They realize that they'll have to defeat the monster in front of it before they can seal away the fog. |
BOSS BATTLE| Defeat the Drain Garter and 3 Wights.
Now it's time to seal the source of the spirit fog. Lena tries the jewel, but it doesn't do anything, twice. In frustration she tosses it. Senia asks if she can have it, since Lena doesn't seem to want it; Lena, frustrated, says it's ok. But, this still leaves the matter of sealing the spirit fog. While they're arguing over what else could possibly be used to seal the fog, Senia comes over to remind them about what she retrieved from inside the ship, when the glowing plank flies out of her possession and into the rift. The fog stops. ...She totally meant to do that. Iason-sensei finally enters. He says he meant to seal the spirit fog, but... Well, now that Blade's done so, Blade is even closer to becoming a Real Man. Blade is happy, Iason-sensei is pleased, and Senia still has the jewel. |
