Magazine Articles - Famitsuu on Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star
The week of May 13th, 2009, Famitsuu released information on the newest installment of the Lunar series, Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star, for the PSP. This is another remake of the classic Lunar: The Silver Star / Silver Star Story, but with upgraded graphics and sound. Below is a shot of the article; summary and translation follow:
So, Famitsuu has a tendency to sound really excited at everything. The full LunarNET translation by Kizyr is also below, but here are some of the highlights:
- L:HSS is being produced by GungHo Works, and developed by Game Arts.
- The slated release date is Fall 2009 in Japan. No word yet on an American or European release.
- The game is reported to be 62% complete.
- New storyline events will be added to the PSP remake.
- The battle system is turn-based and incorporates movement and position on the field (unlike Lunar: Legend).
- The graphics are redone, and the sound and cutscenes are remastered.
- The same voice actors as Lunar: Silver Star Story are credited. (Unknown if the remake will simply re-use the same clips.)

"Lunar: The Silver Star", the RPG that gained fame through its magnificent story and animated scenes. This masterpiece will be reborn in a new format! As you can tell from the screenshots, the graphics have been greatly 'powered up' since the Mega CD version in 1992 and the Saturn version in 1996. Furthermore, even the story will be strengthened with new scenes and never-before-seen events!!
A simple yet in-depth battle system.
Battles are done through simple turn-based commants. But, the unique part is that enemies and allies move to their target to attack, and don't return to their original position thereafter (for melee attacks only). Each time someone attacks, bit by bit the layout of friends and enemies on the field changes.

The "Lunar" series is hailed as a classic, but the goal for a development team is that it reaches a wider audience. With the PSP, we can present the content of "Lunar" while still allowing people to enjoy it anytime, anywhere! Keeping this in mind, we went for a full-on remake. This story has been passed down for decades, and to achieve the quality of an RPG masterpiece is the ultimate goal and pride of the development team.

Story
At the edge of the magic world of "Lunar" lies the village of Burg. Here lives a young boy named Alex, aspiring to be a Dragonmaster, dreaming of adventure. One day, Alex is invited by his friend Ramus to go to the cave of the White Dragon. Alex and his friend set off on a little adventure with the singer of the village, Luna, and the creature Nall. Little did they know that their adventure would change the world...

The main character of the story. He's a bit of an introvert, but he's honest and strong-willed. He's no match for his childhood friend Luna. |
