Coffee Mugs
These particular item(s) might be the rarest of all LUNAR merchandise. Below are three pictures of the LUNAR coins, one of which compares it to a Euro coin, and another which shows the coinbag. Below the pictures is detailed information from Darksol on where these came from.
The
Original LUNAR COINS Story
(thanks to DarkSol
for pictures and information)
Some years ago, when I and
my girlfriend first went to japan, we headed straight for
Tokyos well-known Videogames- and Shopping-Paradise: Akihabara.
After spending quite some time in this part of the city
(actually half a week ^^;) one day we found this well-hidden-hard-to-find
store which seemed to have specialized into "merchandise"
for cetain videogames... well, back then when we had been
there, there was one game they had tons of things from...
Yep, our all-time favorite: LUNAR!
So, besides the fact they were
selling all kinds of things like cups, posters, CDs, Books
& Mangas, Phonecards and that original japanese Lucia
Pendant (which I still could kill myself for, for not getting
it back then >_<) they had a SPECIAL system going
on there when you bought something. For every 500 Yen you
spent in this store, they gave away one of these rare, golden
coins which are directly made after the currency of the
games! SO, why are they so rare you may ask. Well, the worker
from the store proudly told us, that those coins had been
produced for THIS store ONLY and ONLY in very limited numbers
and that you could ONLY get those coins in this store in
all of Japan (while more meaning, all of the world I guess
^^;)!! So, all in all, I think that it was pure luck that
we managed to get these coins. ^_^
As for the Coins themselves:
On one of the sides they show the head of the dragon, taken
from the stone inscribtions of the legend telling pictures
of the LUNAR ETERNAL BLUE intro sequence along with the
inscriptions "100 - One Hundred Guild" and "Magic-Guild-Kingdom
Since 1998". On the other side we see ALTHENAS SHRINE
(the big one from LUNAR Silver Star -MCD I guess) along
with the same inscriptions as seen on the other side.
Ok, now, after learning all
this we realized why they had another unusual item for sale
at the store: The LUNAR Coinbag! ^_^
Of course, they knew whoever wanted those coins, would want
the bag as well... damn, japanese sure know what they can
make money of! :P Anyway, so of course we got one of those
as well ^^ Those bags are made just like coinbags that may
be used in the original world of LUNAR for storing money
whiles traveling. In addition, they have the inprinting
"LUNAR 2 - ETERNAL BLUE" on it, as well as a small
leather tag with copyrights. I "think" the pictures
I made should be good enough though to make all this out
:P So, have fun! ^__^
