Magazine Articles - Nintendo Dream on Lunar DS #2

Recently, Nintendo Dream published another article with continued coverage on Lunar: Genesis (Lunar: Dragon Song in the United States). This article is much shorter than the previous, six-page one (images and translation available here on LunarNET), but it's still worthwhile. The scans are below, courtesy once again of Jeux France; Kizyr's translation follows.

Confirmation on two companions adventuring with the main character Jian

The veteran swordsman
Rufus Claw

(1st Screen beside Rufus)
With his swordsmanship, you can use various swords to defeat monsters. Perhaps no one else in the party has as high an attack power?

The girl from the Frontier who attacks with her bow
Flora Banks

A girl who lives in hiding in the underground mines of Lind Village, in the Frontier. It's unclear why she lives in the mindes, but in her innocence, she has a cheerful demeanor, always pleasing those around her. Her specialty is with bows and the magic of Althena.

(2nd Screen beside Flora)
She supports with not just her bow attacks, but also with Althena's Magic.

You can take on various requests
Gad's Express

Jian and the party make a living by working as couriers. You can take orders from the Gad's Express stores in towns. Here you can find the details, payment, and difficulty of each request, and agree to take them. However, you can only take on one request at a time. To take on a new order, you must first either complete or cancel a previous one.

(3rd Screen)
(Top part reads: Look for work - Gad's Express. Payment: 283S, Work Difficulty: 1, Delivery Location: Perit's Gad's Express, Contents: Take this package to the designated Gad's Express)
(Bottom part reads: Package and quantity. Package x01. Will you take on this job? B = No, A = Yes)
When you take on a job, you can check that job's difficulty, contents, and payment. As the story progresses, you'll be clearing these jobs.

Preorder Gift: LCD Cleaner with Image
LCD Cleaner with a print of Lucia. When you're not using it, it's very convenient to use for the DS itself.

The things you receive change based on the condition in which you rush into battle

On the field screen before a battle begins, you can change between the two conditions of the party: Normal Mode and Virtue Mode. Let's explain how the two types of battle modes affect what happens after the fight.

Normal Mode, where you obtain items and monster cards

If you go into battle without any preparation, then battle in Normal Mode will begin. If you win this way, then enemy monsters will be defeated. After fighting, you'll obtain items and monster cards those monsters were carrying.

Get Items!

(1st Screen on left)
This is when you touch enemies on the field without having done anything. In these battles, once you defeat all monsters and win...

(2nd Screen)
you can obtain various items after battle.

Virtue Mode, where you obtain 'Althena Conduct' points

While on the field, you can see a blue stone on the bottom screen; if you enter battle while this stone is lit, then battle in Virtue Mode will begin. When you win against enemies in this mode, enemy monsters will be reborn, and you will get Althena Conduct points (experience points).

(3rd Screen)

Touch for Virtue Mode
Notice the icon of Jian on the bottom part of the field screen. Touch this, and Jian and the party will be in Virtue Mode.

(4th Screen on top-right)
Once you win a battle in Virtue Mode, defeated monsters can be reborn.

(5th Screen on right)
(Screen reads: Althena Conduct: 85, Jian: 803, Lucia: 803)
Once battle ends, you can get Althena Conduct points, needed for your characters to level up. You can't get items this way.

You can play against others using monster cards

If you have monster cards, then you can play against others using those cards in a Scratch Battle.

(6th Screen on bottom-left)
During confirmation for a monster card. You can obtain cards after battle.

(7th Screen)
The fight will become a scratch battle. Looking at the bottom screen, select and remove one square from among the 24 squares...

(8th Screen)
The icon will appear and you'll attack your opponent! Perhaps the attack power changes, based on the icon which appears?

(9th Screen)
(Top screen reads: Scratch Battle. The results are in. Battle results: your victory!)
(Bottom screen reads: Obtained Groom Wing card! The battle is over)
Once the battle is won, you can get monster cards.
